A Foundation Built to Last
Originally founded in 1976 as Advanced Business Computers, the company provided accounting solutions to a variety of customers in the Pacific Northwest. In the late 1970’s, the company focused exclusively on the construction industry. In the early 1980’s, the company was the first software vendor to release an integrated estimating and accounting solution designed to meet the construction industry’s specific needs. The company adopted the name Bidtek in 1983 and quickly expanded and developed a large, nationwide customer base.

In the early 1990s, the company released a Unix-based version of its product, Vision. Vision was replaced by Viewpoint Software, a comprehensive Windows and SQL-based accounting and operations software suite, starting in 1999. In 2003, Bidtek changed to Viewpoint Construction Software to unite the company and product under a single brand, and to better represent the customers served by its software solutions.
